Nursery Roles

There are a variety of roles within our nurseries from Apprentices, to Team Leaders to Cooks to Business Administrators. More information on our roles can be found below.

This role is suitable for a professional looking to undertake an Early Years Qualification within our Childbase Academy of Excellence alongside working within the nursery environment.  You will have 20% of your time allocated to attend training and complete tasks and assessments associated with your qualification.  You will be supported by your dedicated Trainer/Assessor, Mentor and where needed Functional Skills Tutor.

This role is suitable for a professional without a qualification or who wishes to undertake an Early Years Qualification, alongside their role.  As an Unqualified Practitioner you will provide high quality care and education in a safe and inspirational environment.  Working together with the team to ensure every child, family and colleague matters by implementing inclusive practices.

This role is suitable for a professional both newly qualified and with relevant experience.  As a Qualified Level 2 or 3 Practitioner you will provide high quality care and education in a safe and inspirational environment.  Working together with the team to ensure every child, family and colleague matters by implementing inclusive practices.

This role is suitable for a professional who is level 3 qualified as a minimum looking for their first step into a management role or with relevant experience already.  A room based role, responsible for managing your room team to deliver high quality care and education, support colleague development and take on additional responsibilities out of the room as part of the Management Team.

This supernumerary role is suitable for a professional who is a minimum level 3 qualified with experience of supporting and monitoring practice with improved results.  As part of the Management Team, your role will include the delivery of our approach to high quality provision, linked to the EYFS, by supporting colleagues through role modelling and monitoring children’s progress and working in partnership with colleagues and parents.

This role is for a professional who is level 3 qualified as a minimum and with relevant experience of being part of a Management Team.  Responsible for supporting the overall effective running of the nursery and stepping up in the absence of the Manager.  You will be responsible for key aspects of the nursery including supporting and developing colleague professional development and role modelling outstanding practice to ensure a highly engaged workforce.

This supernumerary role is for a professional who is level 3 qualified as a minimum and with relevant management experience.  Responsible for the overall effective running of the nursery, you are an inspirational leader who can lead on delivering outstanding outcomes for children in partnership with parents by ensuring a highly engaged workforce.  Team work, excellent communication and problem solving are some of your key attributes.

A Nursery Chef role suits a professional who holds a basic Food Hygiene Certificate, a knowledge of dietary and allergy requirements with a love for food.  You will be responsible for ensuring nutritionally balanced seasonal menu’s which meet the needs of our children.  Can successfully manage ordering and balance on-site stock supplies and maintain good stock rotation.  Contributes to children’s learning and development through cooking activities and experiences.

A Kitchen Assistant role suits a professional who enjoys being part of a kitchen team and takes great pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.  Responsible for all the domestic duties and working alongside the Nursery Cook to contribute to various catering tasks, including preparation of the daily meals and collection of food from the rooms.  Can step up in the absence of the cook.

This role is for a professional with strong administration and organisational skills.  You will be responsible for supporting the Management Team to ensure the effective running of the nursery.  This includes ensuring all administrative tasks are undertaken which includes customer enquiries, bookings and financial queries and as an excellent communicator you will be front of house on the telephone and welcoming all colleagues, parents and children into the nursery.

This role is for professionals both qualified and unqualified.  Our seasonal workforce work various hours, days and times throughout the year to suit their other commitments.  In this room based role you will support the team to provide high quality care and education in a safe and inspirational environment.  Working together with the team to ensure every child, family and colleague matters by implementing inclusive practices.

What is Employee Ownership?

Every colleague in our company is a co-owner, which means they contribute to more than just the lives of the children in our nurseries, they contribute to various aspects of the company as a whole. 

Working under the banner “We all contribute, we all benefit”, Childbase Partnership employee owners have easy access to all company information and a voice individually and collectively through the 45-member, elected Partnership Council. Councillors, one from each nursery and Head Office, meet quarterly and are regular and valued contributors at main Board meetings.

Our colleagues also share in the financial success of our company and share equal tax-free Dividend Payments annually when the company has a successful year. In 2021 colleagues were paid up to £1000 and in 2022 colleagues received up to £1500 subject to NI deductions and based on hours worked within the year.
